Films: Amelie

I have been saying it for years now but Amelie is one of my most favourite films ever. It is colourful, imaginitive and quirky. I like the kind of films that let your imagintion run wild or rather when the lead characters imagination runs wild. Its different, off beat, however may other descriptions I can use for saying its quite unlike any other film I had watched at the time. The science of sleep which I have written a post about earlier this evening is along the same knid of wavelength but this came first. the combination of the music the cinamatography and the charcters make for an all round sensory pleasing film.

Music videos: Beyonce - Why Don't You Love Me (2010).avi

Beyonce gone crazy! I am a huge fan of hers, this song is not an instant love but it has grown on me. Despite the initial shock of the overtly raunchy drink swilling ciggarete smoking housewife, I love the vintage style clothing and setting. Its quirky and fun. got love the girl for her crazyness, check out the dancing, the kind of thing i do in the kitchen on a friday night after a few drinks. A cross between stepford wives and desparate hoysewives me thinks!

Music videos :Rammstein - Sonne

My Boyfriend takes the absolute micheal out of me for liking this song, I keep trying to explain that it is not just the song but the music video is great. Hes not having any of it. Again i think it is the "darkness" of the video but also the contrast of the brightness of snow white against the dity dustiness of the surroundings. The fact that she is an evil minx is not a typcal view of snow white and not a particulrly nice portrayal but thats the point. There is not a whole lot of innocence left in the world which is a shame.

Music videos:Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer (1986)

I have loved music videos from as long as I can remember but this has to be one of the first that captured my attention. It is genious.

Music videos: The Cardigans - Don't Blame Your Daughter (HD Official Video)

Another good song another good video. I like the "darkness" of the cotume and the setting.

Music videos :Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop (Video)

The first time I saw this video I laughed out loud. I love it. The use of ordinary objects to create art insilations is great. My personal favourite is the lamps.

Music videos: Headlock - Imogen Heap

The first time I this video my mind was racing with design ideas. Its a great song too. I love her eclectic style.

Film : The science of sleep.

The science of sleep has to be one of the most imaginative films I have seen in a long time. I absolutely loved it. Gael Garcia Bernal is not only a great actor but quite handsome too. I fould it quite inspiring in the way that I would love to make some kooky little stuffed animals. The making of the film is also just as interesting. It is basically about a mexican artist who goes to stay with his french mother in Paris and falls in love with his french neighbour. He tries to show her how he feels but as you can imagine as in all films it never goes as smoothly as intended. He has a furtile imgination and reality and his imaginings seem to get blurred along the way but it makes for riveting watching.

imdb rant 4

Naomi Watts and Sienna Miller?

imdb rant 3

How about Susan Sarandon and Sally feilds?

imdb rant 2

Another two I got mixed up. Jamie lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver!

Imdb lookalike rant 1

As i said in my last post about how I get it wrong sometimes when I make bets with my man about actors in films, I quite often get it wrong. Here is example 1. on the left we have Seth Rogan and on the right we have Micheal Rapaport. Now is it just me or do these two look quite alike?

T.V: Pushing daisies.

These images are from a T.V programe called pushing daisies. I found the images from http://www.imdb.com/ . Digressing from pushing daisies for a moment imdb is a great website for settling disputes, quite often my boyfriend and I have little bets when we are watching films. I would say oh thats so and so from another film and he would say no its not! we would bet a weeks worth of washing up on it then type in the actor/actress names into imdb and it will tell you what films they are in! great! Whats not great however is the fact that i quite often get it wrong!!
Anywho Pushing daisies is one of my most favourite programes ever! I did not catch it on T.v I rented the box sets and was horrified to learn that the show had been axed! booo! The costume and the imagery is soo beautiful, its colourful and retro. Not only that but its quirky and the storey lines are humorous and inventive. Well worth a watch.

Books : A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff

I read this book on recomendation by one of my customers Elaine. I am not a huge fan of girly books but this one captured me from start to finish. If you, like me, love vintage clothing then i recommend this book. It is not only about her opening her own vintage shop (which I dream of) but about the complexities of relationships, be it family, friends or lovers.

Old knittting and sewing magazines/patterns

I have always been fascinated by the artwork and photography on old knitting or sewing patterns and magazines, they look so glamourous, it just makes you want to sew!

Interiors : One day it will be mine. Oh yes it will be mine!

I have dreamt of having a shop for so long and i know one day I will but at the moment rent prices are way too high and I cant afford to buy! How ever I came across these images in one of my googling fits and really like these shop fitS. I love antique/vintage furniture and the idea of using it to showcase your stock is pure genius!

Sophie Ellis Bextor.

I think Sophie Ellis Bextor is such a stylish woman. She also has a love of vintage clothing, I remember seeing an interveiw with her for a fashion program on t4 saying she looks on ebay for vintage items. She is a beautiful woman with enviable bone structure!

www.additions.com

I have just purchased a new dress for my birthday celebrations!! I am to be the grand old age of 26 next week.
I tried this dress on a minute ago and Oh my does it look good on! I have been feeling fat and frumpy of late, nothing seems to fit me properly. The moment i zipped this up i felt amazing, it held me in at the right places and is flattering to my curvy (bumpy more like!) figure. The image above is from the wbsite i bought it from www.additions.com They have so many lovely things on here, I may even have a look to see if i can buy some more clothing that flatters my figure!
