John William Waterhouse is one of my favourite artists I love the pre raphaelite movement and in my opinion he is the best. I love the romance of it and the fact that each picture tells a storey. I had to put some more of Mucha's pictures up I am just mesmerized by his art. I find it difficult sometimes to explain why I like things. words escape me. There is so much detail in his art work that you can not help but be drawn to it .
This french film is shot in black and white and why not! It makes you concentrate more on the storey. It is set in Paris and what more of a beautiful setting do you need for a romantic drama? The main character owes money to some dangerous men and can not see any way to pay it back in a desparate attempt to kill himself by jumping of a bridge, he sees this tall beauty of a woman jump before him. He jumps into save her and their journey together begins. Its a great film, not a chick flick by any standards, my other half enjoyed this too.
I love illustrations wethere they are fashion, graphic or any other kind for that matter. I regularly type random words into google and see what images come up. This is how I found the French site http://www.misstigri.fr/ . The images are outstanding. I love the rich use of colour and how simple the faces are in contrast to the complexity of the patterns used in the clothing and the backgrounds. There are so many imges That I liked have a look at the website!
These pictures were taken by Raymond. You can see them on his website along with other work he has done. These are pictures of homeless people. What I find amazing is that not only did he ask to take these pictues but he took time out to sit with them and talk. Some of the storeys are heartwrenching. How many times have you walked past a homeless person and pretended to ignore them? Im guilty of it but i also fell bad about it too. His pictures were used for a campaign by salisbury council to help the homeless. I think the first picture is especially powerful you can see pain in her eyes. Its so sad.
Who did not love this cartoon? It was hilarious and digusting. I loved it. Stinky come home!
I love the girly stle of some of Channels spring summer 10 collection. The crochet and the lightness of the colurs and fabrics are beautiful.
I think Barbie is the reason I wanted to become a fashion designer .
I came across Chrissie White by accident one day and I absolutely love her work! The use of props are amazing and the set ups are very imaginative.
I can not remember where i saw this image but i really like the different size and colurs of the doors on this cabinet. Its fun and im sure it would brighten up any room beautifully.
The textiles in this collection is amazing! Textiles is something I have been excited by scince my a level days. The bead work in these outfits are magical it must have taken hours. I also love the layering of of chunky accessories. I have a snake necklace that I bought in Liverpool a few years ago but its not as glam a the one seen above. The last picture shows a suit jacket. I love the raw seams, the ruching and the missing seam. All these are fine examples that fashion is art.
This Is a Spanish film that is another sensory pleaser! The imagery is magical and quite scarey in a way. I dont want to describe it too much as I dont want to ruin the story but its like a cross between alice in wonderland, the labryinth and the lion the witch and the wardrobe. You would expect it tobe a kind of Tim Burton production, its sinister, magical and captivating from start to finish.
This is another of our love film rentals called chocolate, It is a film from Thailand about an autistic girl whos mother is ill and needs money for medication, her friend come across a book with names and addresses of people who owe her money. The girl and her friend take it upon themselves to collect he money from these people using the young girls extraordinary talent for martial arts. Because of her autism she has the ability to mimic martial arts from watching people practise, films and video games. There is more to the storyline than that but I found it compelling watching from start to finish. I have worked with several people with autism and it is a fact that they can have a certain talent or knowledge in one or more areas that surpass others and the idea of this girl learning martial arts from just watching it is awesome. The fight sequences are very realistic and if you watch the documenntary of the film you will see why. It took a few years of training and if you watch the out takes all the stunts are real.
This is another beautifully shot and quirky film from South Korea. I caught a bit of it on film four but could not watch it all so rented it from lovefilm. For those of you who love films check out http://www.lovefilm.com/ You can rent films from the comfort of your own home no late fees and up to 3 discs at a time, they post them to you and provide a prepaid envelope to poet it back. simple and economic. They not only rent films but T.V series and console games too. Any way to the film this is one of the best films I have seen in a while, its about a girl who looses touch with reality and believes that she is a robot. She gets admitted to an asylum and the fun begins! There are a few good characters and the stryline is easygoing and fun it made me laugh anyway!
I almost stopped watching this film about half an hour into it, it started slow and the acting was a little wooden. I dont quite know why I continued to watch it but I am glad I did. It is about two hours long and was realeased in 1986. Granted it would not be everyones cup of tea as it is not in any way beautifully shot but the storyline is captivating. It is essentially about a relationship between a man and a woman who are in lust at the beging but fall in love. She brings light into his otherwise mundane life and she is captivated by a book that he has writen and makes it her aim to get it published, however as time goes on and with the adventures/misadventures they go through she starts to loose her mind and he desparately tries to comfort and support her. it has funny moments and heartwrenching moments. It is raw and gritty and as you would expect from a french movie gratuitous nakedness but if you can sit through the slow parts you would appreciate it for what it is, as storey of two people completly in love but torn apart by neurousis and poor circumstance.
