www.style.com Alexander Mcqueen rtw spring 2010

I am absolutely amazed by the amount of work that has gone into these garments. The textiles is outstanding! the prints are so detailed, the applique and the fabric manipulation is just magical. I love love love it. Its such a shame Lee Mcqueen will not be designing anymore.

UNDER WEAR AS OUTER WEAR?

I did not know that monsoon did lingerie but now I do I was perusing http://www.monsoon.co.uk/ yesterday and came across some of the most beautifull lingerie i have seen in a while. These french knickers below are beautiful and they are 97% silk, The turquoise bra above is also monsoon and way to pretty to hide under a shirt! Maybe you could follow Marc Jacobs style from the spring rtw collction and wear a bra over a jumper? Whilst I was on http://www.style.com/ this morning i saw alot of underwear as outer wear in the spring ready to wear collections 2010, for example the image below is from Christian dior.
Would any one be brave enough to wear french knickers with a cardi? Not me but if you were id suggest those cute little monsoon ones.

www.style.com Marc Jacobs RTW SPRING 2010

I had a look on http://www.style.com/ this morning and I was really excited by the detail in Marc Jacobs ready to wear spring 2010 collection.

I have noticed a lot of under wear as outer wear in the spring collections.

I just love the colour combinations of these ruffles and the little pearls on the shear fabrics.

I also love the combination of the simple straight military jacket with the frivolity of the frills spilling out from underneath.

Adding fuffles to the shoulders of a suit jacket in the same fabric adds interest and femininity to an otherwise serious item of clothing.

I could see hundreds of girls wanting this cute little playsuit when the warmer weather eventually arrives.

This reminds me of the icing on a wedding cake. mmmm delicious.

So much detail has gone into to this. its like a shell or corall.

www.modcloth.com ....Again

I think www.modcloth.com would be the place to go to emulate that pin up style and there is so much to choose from.

Dita Von Teese

Another one of my style icon has to be Dita Von Teese. This lady oozes sexual glamour in a very classy wasy. she has that forties fifties pin up look down to a T. I wish I had her figure!

www.soapandglory.com

I have never been a particularly girly girl when it comes to toiletries and cosmetics. Soap, shampoo and deodorant were about the only beauty products I owned. (sad but true.) However As I have got older I have been experimenting with makeup and indulging myself with bubble baths and face masks. I only wear make up if I am dressing up for a night out and even then it is a bit of eye shaddow and mascara. Recently I came across a brand called Soap and glory. I have tried their some like it hot body softening thermal scrub, which was amasing to say the least! Not only did it smell lush but as you rubbed it into your body it heats up! It made having a shower quite a fun experience, so much so that my boyfriend tried it and became a fan too! I have never worn a perfume as i have never found one i liked until now! Eau de soap and glory perfume spray has such a lovely sweet scent that i could not resist. One of the reasons I decided to post this is because I love the packaging and the fact that they use the pin up, glamour puss style imagery. Check out www.soapandglory.com to cee what i mean

Shop displays at Sue Ryder Salisbury

As I have said before I am The Manager of a Sue Ryder care charity shop. One of my favourite things about this job is that I have total control over what I put out and where I put it. I am quite lucky as the donations we get at Salisbury are lovely so I have a lot to work with, but it can be difficult because you have to pull together outfits and ideas from a lot of different peoples things. It is not like a normal shop where all the clothing is designed to fit together to make outfits. Once a top or a skirt is removed from one of our windows there may not be something else in the shop to replace it. I really enjoy display work and alot of the time I like the windows to be colour co-ordinated, by using two or three colours not only does it have a visual impact but it is alot easier to find an item of clothing to replace something thats been sold .I used to take alot of pictures of my windows and the displays i do inside, I havent done that for a while as we are really busy but here are some older pics that I am really happy with.

Most charity shops sell new goods, I know there are people that don't agree with this but It does raise a tremendous amount of money for the charities. Sue Ryder also have an excellent range of dolls houses and accessories as well as musical instruments. Above Is a display I did with some of the new goods range for children. I love how bright and happy it looks.

Some of the bric a brac you find in charity shops are amazing just look at this crockery above, these were donated by different people but it all goes together so well.

These two bird cages were new goods I think they are stunning however they are all gone now.

One of things I enjoy is displaying the bric a brac, you can find co-ordinating items like these items above from bags of random things from loads of different people. I like each shelf to have a theme or a colour and not be too over loaded. I have a fantastic team of volunteers and staff who all work really hard to make the shop a success. Can you imagine a shop having a delivery of goods every five minutes! It is a never ending task to sort, prepare, price and put it out when you are getting 20+ bags and boxes in a day. If you want to know more about the charity go to www.suerydercare.org
